Evening Reception

On 20 March 2012, the Deputy High Commissioner for Canada Mr Claude Boucher and Mrs Isabelle Mignault hosted an evening reception on behalf of the Maple Leaf Trust, featuring guest speaker, Ms Jacynthe Côté, CEO of Rio Tinto Alcan.

The evening was a thank you to our VIP Corporate and individual supporters of the Maple Leaf Trust. More than 50 guests attended and enjoyed a musical interlude provided by two members of the Jacquin Trio, featuring pianist Charis Cheung, a recipient of a 2010-2011 scholarship from the Canadian Centennial Scholarship Fund, one of the charities supported by the Trust. Their charm and great stage presence as well as their excellent musical talent were a fitting testimony to the benefits of supporting our young scholars.

Ms Côté provided us with a fascinating insight into Rio Tinto Alcan’s position as a global company and on their commitment to corporate responsibility to the environment, employees and dedication to supporting Canadian youth. Her comments were well received by our guests and we were especially thankful for her thoughtful answers to questions raised at the end of her talk.
